Crown Theatre, Crown LIVE, and Event Spaces for Group Stays

Organising a group trip around a live show, function, or conference at Crown Melbourne requires balancing performance schedules with accommodation across the three on-site hotels. Here is what the resort publishes regarding Crown LIVE, the Palladium, and event venues.

Crown LIVE and Live Entertainment Spaces

When planning entertainment for a group, understanding the complex’s main performance spaces is essential. The venue previously known as The Palms is undergoing a complete transformation into Crown LIVE (also referred to as Crown Live Theatre). Located on Level 3 of the West End of Crown Melbourne, parallel to Clarendon Street and opposite the Melbourne Exhibition Centre, this refreshed venue will accommodate an audience of up to 1,250 guests upon its scheduled relaunch in November 2026.

For live sports broadcasts, smaller team gatherings, or casual group entertainment, the resort operates several dedicated lounge and bar venues across the property, including the Sports Bar, The Pub, and the Jackpot Bar. Movie screenings for groups are supported nearby at the on-site Village Cinemas on Level 2.

It is worth noting that while older event listings occasionally reference a generic theatre name, official published materials from Crown Resorts specifically identify Crown LIVE as the primary dedicated performance space within the complex. If your group is travelling to attend an event during the relaunch period, check the exact show schedules via Crown Melbourne Entertainment before finalising room dates.

Major Event Spaces and Conference Facilities

For groups holding private banquets, multi-day conferences, or corporate celebrations, Crown Melbourne provides a wide range of dedicated function facilities. Key published event spaces include:

  • Palladium at Crown: A major pillarless ballroom featuring seven-metre ceilings. It holds up to 1,500 seated guests or 2,500 standing, with flexible configurations available for smaller gatherings of 220 to 650 guests.
  • Crown Conference Centre: A multi-level facility providing a combined 7,350 square metres of versatile function space spread across Level 1 and Level 3, situated adjacent to Crown Promenade.
  • Boutique & Waterfront Spaces: Dedicated venues such as Crown Aviary, Evergreen, River Room, Garden Rooms, Horizon, and Mesh cater to corporate events, weddings, and private functions overlooking the Yarra River or city skyline.
  • 28th Floor Space: As part of property-wide updates announced in early 2026, Crown Metropol’s 28th floor is scheduled to debut as an exclusive private events destination from May.

For groups dining together around a private function, several signature restaurants also offer dedicated private dining rooms, including Bistro Guillaume, Conservatory, LAYAL, Echostate, and Di Francesco Cucina. Learn more about large-table seating options on our dining for groups page.

Aligning Group Room Bookings with Events

When coordinating rooms for a group attending a performance or function, timing and hotel selection play a critical role. Here are the steps we take to ensure a seamless itinerary:

  1. Identify the venue entry point: Crown LIVE is situated in the West End on Level 3. If your group attends a show there, staying at Crown Metropol or Crown Promenade places you within short indoor walking distance. Guests staying at Crown Towers access the West End via the central retail and dining concourse.
  2. Select room allocations: You can split your group across the three hotels compared on site based on budget and preference while keeping everyone under one master event schedule.
  3. Review check-in times: Standard check-in across all three hotels begins at 3:00 pm, with check-out at 11:00 am. Because late check-outs are not available on Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays, or during high-occupancy event periods, groups attending evening shows should plan to arrive and check in prior to showtime.
  4. Coordinate group dining: Secure pre-show dinner reservations well in advance. Signature venues fill quickly on show nights.

Planning Around the Casino and Precinct Regulations

The Crown Melbourne complex operates under a casino licence held by Crown Melbourne Limited and regulated by the Victorian Gambling and Casino Control Commission (VGCCC). While your group may be visiting exclusively for a live show, conference, or hotel stay, standard precinct rules apply across shared areas.

Entry to the main casino floor is strictly restricted to adults aged 18 and over, with smart casual dress standards enforced at all times. A player card is required for carded play. For detailed regulator details and player safety information, visit our summary of the casino, factually. Help is available 24/7 via Gambler’s Help on 1800 858 858.

Three short steps. The desk asks the hotel for the rooms and the current rate and emails the organiser, usually within one working day. No card details here.

1 · The group and the nights
2 · Hotel and notes
3 · The organiser

The organiser's desk is paid only when a group request made here becomes a confirmed booking: the hotel or the booking partner pays the commission, never the group.
